DCC is on a 130-acre campus in a suburban setting in Poughkeepsie, New York, not far from New York City. There are many activities and organizations for DCC students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.
DCC does not have fraternities or sororities.
DCC has a thriving Rap, Poetry and Music. In fact, more students participate in Rap, Poetry and Music than any other on-campus activity.
Other popular student organizations at DCC include Outdoor Adventure, Student Government Association, Gamers Club and Masquer's Guild Theatre Club.
DCC students' favorite campus events are FalconFest, Halloween Dance and Lyceum Series of Speakers.
DCC offers housing. Students are not required to live on campus First year students are given no special consideration for on-campus housing.
Most DCC students live off campus. In 2021, 5% of undergrads at DCC lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 90% of students lived off-campus or commuted to DCC. There are 472 spots available in on-campus housing for all 8,691 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 34 students chose to live in campus housing. On the weekends, about 50% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.
DCC offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.
College is like a home away from home. Whether you're walking to class or coming back from late-night studying (or partying!), it's important to feel safe on campus.
Dutchess Community College is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The DCC campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night.
DCC offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards so that students can feel confident that they are safe in on-campus housing.
Additionally, DCC has Mass Notification System.
