DCC Academics

Dutchess Community College requires at least to complete a bachelor's degree. There is no accelarated degree program, . Additionally, DCC has a summer session, so students can earn credits during the summer. DCC offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at DCC?

DCC does not have a core curriculum. Since there are no specific-classes required in order to graduate, students have a lot of flexibiity about what classes they choose to take. Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

When choosing a major, DCC students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at DCC below. DCC does not offer double majors, so students must choose on area of study to focus on. .

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. DCC does not require a senior project for all students.

Does DCC Offer Learning Disability Services?

DCC offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does DCC Give Credit for AP Classes?

DCC offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does DCC Have An Honor's Program?

DCC offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and offers a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does DCC Require Internships?

DCC does not require an internship for all students Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
