CSU East Bay is on a 343-acre campus in a suburban setting in Hayward, California, not far from San Francisco Bay Area. There are many activities and organizations for CSU East Bay students to participate in – band, chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, and more.
CSU East Bay also has fraternities and sororities.
CSU East Bay has a thriving Tau Sigma Hour Society. In fact, more students participate in Tau Sigma Hour Society than any other on-campus activity.
Other popular student organizations at CSU East Bay include East Bay Student Nursing Association, Golden Key Honor Society, Black Student Union and Sigma Sigma Sigma Society.
The CSU East Bay community comes together each year for Al Fresco Fall Welcome Festival, Homecoming Week and Spring Mayhem Concert/Festival.
CSU East Bay offers housing. Students are not required to live on campus First year students are given priority for on-campus housing. and 14% of students lived off-campus or commuted to CSU East Bay. There are 1,650 spots available in on-campus housing for all 12,998 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 1,632 students chose to live in campus housing. On the weekends, about 5% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.
CSU East Bay offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.

California State University, East Bay is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The CSU East Bay campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night. The school also has student security patrols.
CSU East Bay offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Campus housing is secure and dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards.
