CSU East Bay Academics

California State University, East Bay requires at least 180 units to complete a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program.

CSU East Bay does accept transfer credits. The school accepts AP credit and IB credits. Additionally, CSU East Bay has a summer session, so students can earn credits during the summer.

Around 42% of students who started college at CSU East Bay finish the requirements for graduation within six years.

CSU East Bay offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at CSU East Bay?

CSU East Bay has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate.

Students are not required to fulfill a lanuage requirement, but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. CSU East Bay does not require a senior project for all students.

CSU East Bay offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Accessibility Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does CSU East Bay Offer Online Classes?

CSU East Bay has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does CSU East Bay Offer Credit for AP Classes?

CSU East Bay offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does CSU East Bay Have An Honors Program?

CSU East Bay offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, but does not offer a Freshman Honors College.

Does CSU East Bay Require Internships?

CSU East Bay does not require an internship for any students. Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job. While CSU East Bay does not require internships for students in any majors, internships can help students gain hands-on work experience for their resume, and explore career paths that interest them without committing to one path.

ROTC

The Reserve Officers' Training Corps, which is also commonly known as ROTC, is a leadership program that prepares students to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces after graduation. College level ROTC programs prepare students to become officers in the military through physical, academic, and leadership training. ROTC programs are part of the college curriculum and usually cover the cost of tuition.

Each branch of the miltary has its own ROTC program, but not every program is available at every school. Possible programs include Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, and Navy ROTC.

CSU East Bay does not have any ROTC programs.

Dual Degree Programs at CSU East Bay

A dual degree program allows a student to study and earn two degrees at the same time. A 3-2 dual degree program is a five-year program wherein the first three years are spend taking undergraduate courses and the final two years are spent taking graduate courses. Upon completion of the 5 years, the student will be awarded two degrees, a bachelor's degree and a master's degree.

CSU East Bay does not have any dual degree programs available for students.
