Baker Student Life

Baker is on a 26-acre campus in a small town setting in Baldwin City, Kansas, not far from Kansas City. There are many activities and organizations for Baker students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.

Baker also has fraternities and sororities.

Baker has a thriving Exercise Science Student Alliance. In fact, more students participate in Exercise Science Student Alliance than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at Baker include Baker University Speech Choir, Mungano, Student Senate and Student Activities Council.

The Baker community comes together each year for Homecoming, Springfest Week and International Education Week.

Does Baker offer student housing?

Baker offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through senior year. First year students are guaranteed on-campus housing.

The majority of Baker students live on campus. In 2021, 81% of undergrads at Baker lived in some kind of on-campus housing There are 576 spots available in on-campus housing for all 1,149 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 58 students chose to live in campus housing. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.

Baker offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.

Safety at Baker

College is like a home away from home. Whether you're walking to class or coming back from late-night studying (or partying!), it's important to feel safe on campus.

Baker University is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The Baker campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night. Dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards so that students can feel confident that they are safe in on-campus housing.
