Sewanee is on a 13,000-acre campus in a small town setting in Sewanee, Tennessee, not far from Chattanooga. There are many activities and organizations for Sewanee students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.
Sewanee also has fraternities and sororities.
Sewanee has a thriving Sewanee Outing Program. In fact, more students participate in Sewanee Outing Program than any other on-campus activity.
Other popular student organizations at Sewanee include Office of Civic Engagement, Organization for Cross Cultural Understanding, Alpha Phi Omega (APO) National Service Fraternity and African American Alliance.
The Sewanee community comes together each year for Perpetual Motion (student dance performance), Sewaneroo Music Festival and Sewanee Monologues.

The majority of Sewanee students live on campus. In 2021, 93.9% of undergrads at Sewanee lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 6.1% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Sewanee. There are 1,718 spots available in on-campus housing for all 1,716 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 1,512 students chose to live on-campus. On the weekends, about 98% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.
