Ship Academics

Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania requires at least 120 credit hours to complete a bachelor's degree. Students can choose the accelarated degree program if they would like to finish all the credits for graduation in less time than normal. Around 51% of students who started college at Ship complete all the credits required within six years. Ship offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at Ship?

Ship has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

Double majoring may require more work but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to grad school.

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. Ship does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does Ship Offer Credit for AP Classes?

Ship offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does Ship Have An Honor's Program?

Ship offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and offers a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.
