RIT is on a 1,300-acre campus in a suburban setting in Rochester, New York. RIT has many clubs, organizations, and activities for students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.
RIT also has fraternities and sororities.
RIT students' favorite campus events are Brick City Festival (fall/parents' weekend), Freezefest (Winter Weekend) and Creativity and Innovation Festival/Spring Weekend.
RIT offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through freshman year. First year students are guaranteed on-campus housing.
The majority of RIT students live on campus. In 2021, 52% of undergrads at RIT lived in some kind of on-campus housing There are 7,144 spots available in on-campus housing for all 13,422 undergraduates. On the weekends, about 90% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.
RIT offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.
College is like a home away from home. Whether you're walking to class or coming back from late-night studying (or partying!), it's important to feel safe on campus.
Rochester Institute of Technology is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The RIT campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night. The school also has student security patrols.
RIT offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards so that students can feel confident that they are safe in on-campus housing.
