MDC is in an urban setting in Miami, Florida. There are many activities and organizations for MDC students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.
MDC does not have fraternities or sororities.
MDC has a thriving Student Government Association. In fact, more students participate in Student Government Association than any other on-campus activity.
Other popular student organizations at MDC include Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Beta Lambda (business), Future Educators of America Professional and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society (education).
MDC students' favorite campus events are Miami International Film Festival, Miami Book Fair International and Graduation Commencement Ceremony.

Miami Dade College is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The MDC campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night. The school also has student security patrols.
MDC offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students.
