Hope College Student Life

Hope College is on a 91-acre campus in a suburban setting in Holland, Michigan, not far from Grand Rapids. Hope College has many clubs, organizations, and activities for students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.

Hope College also has fraternities and sororities.

Hope College has a thriving Social Activities Committee. In fact, more students participate in Social Activities Committee than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at Hope College include Greek Life, Dance Marathon, Hockey Club and Relay for Life.

Hope College students' favorite campus events are Homecoming Weekend Events, Nykerk Cup Competition and Spring Fling.

Does Hope College offer student housing?

Hope College offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through junior year. First year students are guaranteed on-campus housing.

The majority of Hope College students live on campus. In 2021, 78% of undergrads at Hope College lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 22% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Hope College. There are 2,661 spots available in on-campus housing for all 3,061 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 2,661 students chose to live in campus housing. On the weekends, about 75% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.

Hope College offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.

Is Hope College Safe?

College is like a home away from home. Whether you're walking to class or coming back from late-night studying (or partying!), it's important to feel safe on campus.

Hope College is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The Hope College campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night.

Hope College offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Campus housing is secure and dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards.
