Bluefield College Student Life

Bluefield College is on a 82-acre campus in a small town setting in Bluefield, Virginia. There are many activities and organizations for Bluefield College students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, and more.

Bluefield College does not have fraternities or sororities.

Bluefield College has a thriving Baptist Collegiate Ministries. In fact, more students participate in Baptist Collegiate Ministries than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at Bluefield College include Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Union Board, Student Government Association and Arts Club.

Bluefield College students' favorite campus traditions are Homecoming Dance, Spring Formal and Mud Pig Day.

Does Bluefield College Offer Student Housing?

Bluefield College offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through junior year. First year students are given priority for on-campus housing.

The majority of Bluefield College students live on campus. In 2021, 65% of undergrads at Bluefield College lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 35% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Bluefield College. There are 440 spots available in on-campus housing for all 753 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 341 students chose to live in campus housing. On the weekends, about 60% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.Bluefield College does not offer coed housing or housing for students with disabilities.

Bluefield College Athletics

At Bluefield College there are a variety of athletic options for students interested in joining a sports program.

Intercollegiate sports are the highest tier of college sports and can be very competitive. Intercollegiate teams are regulated by the NCAA, funded by the university, and compete against teams from other universities. The division of a sports team depends on the size of the unversity, funding, and compention level. An intercollegiate school team will be Division I, II or III, with Division I being the highest level.

Club sports are not regulated by the NCAA and are a great option for students not interested in trying out for an intercollegiate team. Club sports are usually student run but can also be funded by the university.

Intramural sports are the most casual and informal. Intramural sports are often free and require very little time commitment.
