YHC Academics

Young Harris College requires at least 120 semester hours to graduate with a bachelor's degree. There is no accelarated degree program, . Additionally, YHC has a summer session, so students can earn credits during the summer. YHC offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

Which Courses Do I Have To Take at YHC?

YHC has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are not required to fulfill a lanuage requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students are required to take a computer class to fufill the graduation requirements for YHC.

Majors at YHC

When choosing a major, YHC students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at YHC below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Double majoring may mean taking more courses, but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when job searching or applying to a graduate program.

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. YHC does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does YHC Have Services For Students With Disabilities?

YHC offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does YHC Offer Online Classes?

YHC does not have distance learning options or fully-online programs, so students must be able to attend classes on-campus.

Does YHC Offer Credit for AP Classes?

YHC offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does YHC Have An Honor's Program?

YHC offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and does not offer a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does YHC Require Internships?

YHC requires an internship for students in some majors only. Students can look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
