Walden University Academics

Walden University requires at least 181 units to graduate with a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program.

Walden University does accept transfer credits. The school accepts and IB credits. Additionally, Walden University has a summer session, so students can earn credits during the summer.

Walden University offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

Which Courses Do I Have To Take at Walden University?

Walden University has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate.

Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement, but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

Majors at Walden University

Walden University does not offer double majors, so students must choose on area of study to focus on.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. Students are not required to complete a senior project unless it is required for their specific major.

Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Accessibility Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Walden University has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does Walden University Give AP Credit?

Walden University does not offer credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken during high school.

Does Walden University Have An Honors Program?

Walden University offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, but does not offer a Freshman Honors College.

Does Walden University Require Internships?

Walden University does not require an internship for any students. Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job. While Walden University does not require internships for students in any majors, internships are a great way to get work experience, discover career paths that might fit you, or rule out ones that don't.

ROTC

The Reserve Officers' Training Corps, which is also commonly known as ROTC, is a leadership program that prepares students to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces after graduation. College level ROTC programs prepare students to become officers in the military through physical, academic, and leadership training. ROTC programs are part of the college curriculum and usually cover the cost of tuition.

Each branch of the miltary has its own ROTC program, but not every program is available at every school. Possible programs include Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, and Navy ROTC.

Walden University does not have any ROTC programs.

Dual Degree Programs at Walden University

A dual degree program allows a student to study and earn two degrees at the same time. A 3-2 dual degree program is a five-year program wherein the first three years are spend taking undergraduate courses and the final two years are spent taking graduate courses. Upon completion of the 5 years, the student will be awarded two degrees, a bachelor's degree and a master's degree.

Walden University does not have any dual degree programs available for students.
