Incarnate Academics

University of the Incarnate Word requires at least 120 credit hours to complete a bachelor's degree. Students can choose the accelarated degree program if they would like to finish all the credits for graduation in less time than normal. Around 58% of students who started college at Incarnate graduate within six years. Incarnate offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at Incarnate?

Incarnate has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are required to fulfill a lanuage requirement as well as a math and science requirement. Students are required to take a computer class to fufill the graduation requirements for Incarnate.

Majors at Incarnate

When choosing a major, Incarnate students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at Incarnate below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Declaring a double major may mean taking more courses, but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to a graduate program.

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. Incarnate does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does Incarnate Offer Learning Disability Services?

Incarnate offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does Incarnate Have An Online Program?

Incarnate has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does Incarnate Offer Credit for AP Classes?

Incarnate offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does Incarnate Have An Honor's Program?

Incarnate offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and offers a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does Incarnate Require Internships?

Incarnate does not require an internship for all students Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
