Northwestern Academics

University of Northwestern-St. Paul requires at least 125 credits to graduate with a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program. Around 71% of students who started college at Northwestern finish the requirements for graduation within six years. Northwestern offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Do I Have To Take at Northwestern?

Northwestern has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are not required to fulfill a lanuage requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

Declaring a double major may mean taking more courses, but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when job searching or applying to a graduate program.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. Northwestern does not require a senior project for all students.

Northwestern offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.
