UNT Academics

University of North Texas requires at least 120 semester hours to complete a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program. Around 58% of students who started college at UNT graduate within six years. UNT offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Do I Have To Take at UNT?

UNT has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

Majors at UNT

When choosing a major, UNT students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at UNT below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Declaring a double major may require more work but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to grad school.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. UNT does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does UNT Have Services For Students With Disabilities?

UNT offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does UNT Have An Online Program?

UNT has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does UNT Offer Credit for AP Classes?

UNT offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does UNT Have An Honor's Program?

UNT offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and offers a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does UNT Require Internships?

UNT does not require an internship for all students Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
