UConn Academics

University of Connecticut requires a minimum of 120 credits to complete a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program. Around 83% of students who started college at UConn graduate within six years. UConn offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at UConn?

UConn has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are required to fulfill a lanuage requirement as well as a math and science requirement. Students are required to take a computer class to fufill the graduation requirements for UConn.

Majors at UConn

When choosing a major, UConn students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at UConn below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Declaring a double major may mean taking more courses, but it can provide a unique combination of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to grad school.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. UConn does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does UConn Offer Learning Disability Services?

UConn offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does UConn Have An Online Program?

UConn has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does UConn Offer AP Credit?

UConn offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does UConn Have An Honor's Program?

UConn offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and does not offer a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does UConn Require Internships?

UConn does not require an internship for all students Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
