Union College Academics

Union College requires a minimum of 128 semester hours to complete a bachelor's degree. There is no accelarated degree program at Union College, but students who wish to save money or graduate early can look into transferring in credits.

Union College does accept transfer credits. The school accepts AP credit. Additionally, Union College has a summer session, so students can earn credits during the summer.

Around 47% of students who started college at Union College complete all the credits required within six years.

Union College offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at Union College?

Union College has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate.

Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement, but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

Majors at Union College

Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Double majoring may mean taking more courses, but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to a graduate program.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. Union College does not require students to complete a senior project.

Union College offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Accessibility Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does Union College Have An Online Program?

Union College does not have distance learning options or fully-online programs, so students must be able to attend classes on-campus.

Does Union College Give AP Credit?

Union College offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does Union College Have An Honors Program?

Union College offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, but does not offer a Freshman Honors College.

Does Union College Require Internships?

Union College does not require an internship for all students, but does require an internship for students in some majors. Students can look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.

ROTC

The Reserve Officers' Training Corps, which is also commonly known as ROTC, is a leadership program that prepares students to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces after graduation. College level ROTC programs prepare students to become officers in the military through physical, academic, and leadership training. ROTC programs are part of the college curriculum and usually cover the cost of tuition.

Each branch of the miltary has its own ROTC program, but not every program is available at every university. Possible programs include Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, and Navy ROTC.

Union College does not have any ROTC programs.

Dual Degree Programs at Union College

A dual degree program allows a student to study and earn two degrees at the same time. A 3-2 dual degree program is a five-year program wherein the first three years are spend taking undergraduate courses and the final two years are spent taking graduate courses. Upon completion of the 5 years, the student will be awarded two degrees, a bachelor's degree and a master's degree.

Union College does not have any dual degree programs available for students.
