IIT Admissions

If you are considering submitting an applicationto IIT, the deadline for Fall 2022 admissions is August 15 and the application fee costs $0. Application fees can add up, but some schools do have free applications and students with financial need may be eligible for fee waiver for their application.

How Hard Is It To Get Admitted to IIT?

Getting into IIT is moderately difficult. IIT evaluates applicants carefully based on multiple criteria to decide who to admit, and who to deny.

In 2021, IIT accepted 63% of all applicants., around 2,142 of the 3,396 students who applied.

Schools that are moderately difficult to get into, like IIT, accept fewer than 85% of all applicants. At least 75% of all admitted students have GPAs in the top 50% of their high school class and scored over 1010 on the SAT or over 18 on the ACT. Admissions to engineering and computer science is program extremely difficult.

What GPA Do I Need To Get Into IIT?

Students admitted to IIT have an average unweighted GPA of 3.2.

Unweighted GPAs range from 4.0 to under 1.0.

IIT doesn't consider ACT or SAT scores as part of the admissions process.

IIT does not have a test optional admissions policy. Test optional schools allow students to choose if they want to submit ACT or SAT scores with their applications or not.
