College of Southern Maryland requires a minimum of to graduate with a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program. College of Southern Maryland offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

College of Southern Maryland does not have a core curriculum. Since there are no specific-classes required in order to graduate, students have a lot of flexibiity about what classes they choose to take. Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students do not have to take a computer class.
