Question: My sophomore year was not so swell, and I got a C in Algebra II Honors in the 2nd Semester. NYU, as everyone knows, is a competitive school. I have taken honors classes every year. Will that one C in that one semester kill my chances of admission? Or will NYU see my other grades and my extracurriculars and honors classes and not mind it?
The NYU admission folks will look at all your classes, grades, and extras. A "C" in 10th-grade algebra will definitely not be a deal-breaker. If you aren't admitted to NYU, I promise that it won't be due to that one math grade.
By the way, I got a "C" in sophomore math, too (my first ever) and I lived to tell the story. ;-)
