Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Info session took place in the campus center auditorium by a member of the admissions staff. It was a bit too long, but then all of the schools we visited seemed to drag these introductions out.

Campus Tour: Yes - We chose the engineering tour since my son was considering AU for its engineering school. Tour guide was a senior in the materials science degree program. Thought she was genuine and honest.

Campus Visit Notes for Alfred University

Visit Description:

The highlight of our tour was meeting one of the engineering professors in the digital fabrication & rapid prototyping lab. He was eager to talk to our group about his field, what students do in the lab, what research is currently happening, etc. He was very personable and "down to earth." We took some time after our formal tour to look around campus more. I loved seeing student works of art found all around campus, both inside and outside.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

We stayed at the Saxon Inn. It was quiet, convenient and comfortable.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

We ate at The Collegiate restaurant in Alfred which was good and also visited the Terracotta Coffee House which had a great student vibe.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Freshmen are allowed to have a car on campus.
