HILLTOPPERS is on a 235-acre campus in a suburban setting in Bowling Green, KY, not far from Nashville. HILLTOPPERS has many clubs, organizations, and activities for students to participate in – band, chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.
HILLTOPPERS also has fraternities and sororities.
HILLTOPPERS has a thriving Student Government Association. In fact, more students participate in Student Government Association than any other on-campus activity.
Other popular student organizations at HILLTOPPERS include Campus Activities Board, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Campus Ministries and Residence Hall Association.
HILLTOPPERS students' favorite campus traditions are Big Red's Roar (Homecoming pep rally), CAB-OOM Spring Festival and Football Tailgating.
HILLTOPPERS offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through sophomore year. First year students are given priority for on-campus housing.
Most HILLTOPPERS students live off campus. In 2021, 34.5% of undergrads at HILLTOPPERS lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 65.6% of students lived off-campus or commuted to HILLTOPPERS. There are 5,650 spots available in on-campus housing for all 15,895 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 4,747 students chose to live in campus housing. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.

Western Kentucky University is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The HILLTOPPERS campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night. The school also has student security patrols.
HILLTOPPERS offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Campus housing is secure and dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards.
