UPenn Student Life

UPenn is on a 299-acre campus in an urban setting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. UPenn has many clubs, organizations, and activities for students to participate in – band, chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.

UPenn also has fraternities and sororities.

UPenn has a thriving Kite and Key Society. In fact, more students participate in Kite and Key Society than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at UPenn include Social Planning and Events Committee, Hillel at Penn, Sports Club Council and Interfraternity Council.

The UPenn community comes together each year for Homecoming, Spring Fling and Hey Day.

UPenn Housing

UPenn offers housing. Students are not required to live on campus First year students are guaranteed on-campus housing.

The majority of UPenn students live on campus. In 2021, 55% of undergrads at UPenn lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 45% of students lived off-campus or commuted to UPenn. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.

UPenn offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.

Is UPenn Safe?

College is like a home away from home. Whether you're walking to class or coming back from late-night studying (or partying!), it's important to feel safe on campus.

University of Pennsylvania is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The UPenn campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night.

UPenn offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards so that students can feel confident that they are safe in on-campus housing.

Visiting colleges is one of the best ways to get a sense of the campus and student body. If you'd like to visit to UPenn, take Interstate 76 to Philadelphia, PA. If you need to fly, book your flight to Philadelphia International airport.
