UIndy Academics

University of Indianapolis requires a minimum of 120 credit hours to complete a bachelor's degree. Students can choose the accelarated degree program if they would like to finish all the credits for graduation in less time than normal. Around 61% of students who started college at UIndy finish the requirements for graduation within six years. UIndy offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

Which Courses Do I Have To Take at UIndy?

UIndy has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are required to fulfill a lanuage requirement as well as a math and science requirement. Students are required to take a computer class to fufill the graduation requirements for UIndy.

Majors at UIndy

When choosing a major, UIndy students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at UIndy below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Declaring a double major may mean taking more courses, but it can provide a unique combination of experience that helps students stand out when job searching or applying to a graduate program.

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. UIndy does not require a senior project for all students.

Does UIndy Have Services For Students With Disabilities?

UIndy offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does UIndy Have An Online Program?

UIndy has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does UIndy Give Credit for AP Classes?

UIndy offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does UIndy Have An Honor's Program?

UIndy offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and offers a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does UIndy Require Internships?

UIndy requires an internship for students in some majors only. Students can look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
