Air Force Academy Academics

United States Air Force Academy requires at least 132 semester hours to complete a bachelor's degree. There is no accelarated degree program at Air Force Academy, but students who wish to save money or graduate early can look into transferring in credits.

The school accepts AP credit and IB credits. Air Force Academy does not offer classes during the summer.

What Classes Do I Have To Take at Air Force Academy?

Air Force Academy has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate.

Students are required to fulfill a lanuage requirement as well as a math and science requirement. Students are required to take a computer class to fufill the graduation requirements for Air Force Academy.

Majors at Air Force Academy

Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Double majoring may require more work but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when job searching or applying to grad school.

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. Students are not required to complete a senior project unless it is required for their specific major.

Does Air Force Academy Offer Learning Disability Services?

Air Force Academy does not offer services for students with disabilities.

Does Air Force Academy Have An Online Program?

Air Force Academy does not have distance learning options or fully-online programs, so students must be able to attend classes on-campus.

Does Air Force Academy Give AP Credit?

Air Force Academy offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does Air Force Academy Have An Honors Program?

Air Force Academy offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and offers a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does Air Force Academy Require Internships?

Air Force Academy does not require an internship for any students. Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job. While Air Force Academy does not require internships for students in any majors, internships are a great way to get work experience, discover career paths that might fit you, or rule out ones that don't.


The Reserve Officers' Training Corps, which is also commonly known as ROTC, is a leadership program that prepares students to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces after graduation. College level ROTC programs prepare students to become officers in the military through physical, academic, and leadership training. ROTC programs are part of the college curriculum and usually cover the cost of tuition.

Each branch of the miltary has its own ROTC program, but not every program is available at every college. Possible programs include Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, and Navy ROTC.

Air Force Academy does not have any ROTC programs.

Dual Degree Programs at Air Force Academy

A dual degree program allows a student to study and earn two degrees at the same time. A 3-2 dual degree program is a five-year program wherein the first three years are spend taking undergraduate courses and the final two years are spent taking graduate courses. Upon completion of the 5 years, the student will be awarded two degrees, a bachelor's degree and a master's degree.

Air Force Academy does not have any dual degree programs available for students.
