Tulane Academics

Tulane University requires at least 120 credit hours to complete a bachelor's degree. Students can choose the accelarated degree program if they would like to finish all the credits for graduation in less time than normal. Around 86% of students who started college at Tulane complete all the credits required within six years. Tulane offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

Which Courses Do I Have To Take at Tulane?

Tulane has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are required to fulfill a lanuage requirement as well as a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

Majors at Tulane

When choosing a major, Tulane students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at Tulane below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Declaring a double major may mean taking more courses, but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when job searching or applying to a graduate program.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. Students are not required to complete a senior project unless it is required for their specific major .

Tulane offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Tulane has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does Tulane Give Credit for AP Classes?

Tulane offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Tulane offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and offers a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.
