Evergreen Academics

The Evergreen State College requires a minimum of 180 quarter hours to complete a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program. Around 45% of students who started college at Evergreen complete all the credits required within six years. Evergreen offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at Evergreen?

Evergreen does not have a core curriculum. Since there are no specific-classes required in order to graduate, students have a lot of flexibiity about what classes they choose to take. Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement or a math or science requirement. Students do not have to take a computer class.

Majors at Evergreen

When choosing a major, Evergreen students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at Evergreen below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Declaring a double major may mean taking more courses, but it can provide a unique combination of experience that helps students stand out when job searching or applying to grad school.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. Evergreen does not require a senior project for all students.

Does Evergreen Offer Learning Disability Services?

Evergreen offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does Evergreen Offer Online Classes?

Evergreen has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does Evergreen Give Credit for AP Classes?

Evergreen offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does Evergreen Have An Honor's Program?

Evergreen does not offer an honors program, but does have a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students. .

Does Evergreen Require Internships?

Evergreen does not require an internship for students in some majors only. Internships are a great way to get work experience, discover career paths that might fit you, or rule out ones that don't.
