Stevens Student Life

Stevens Institute of Technology is on a 55-acre campus in an urban setting in Hoboken, New Jersey, not far from New York City. Stevens Institute of Technology has many clubs, organizations, and activities for students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.

Stevens Institute of Technology also has fraternities and sororities.

Stevens Institute of Technology has a thriving Society of Women Engineers. In fact, more students participate in Society of Women Engineers than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at Stevens Institute of Technology include Computer and Console Gaming Society, Stevens Poker Club, Sustainability, Activism, Volunteering, & Engineering (SAVE) and Stevens Climbing and Mountaineering Club.

The Stevens Institute of Technology community comes together each year for Founders Day Ball, Annual Tree Lighting and Techfest Spring Concert.

Does Stevens Institute of Technology Offer Student Housing?

Stevens Institute of Technology offers on-campus housing. Students are not required to live on campus. First year students are guaranteed on-campus housing.

Most Stevens Institute of Technology students live off campus. In 2021, 17% of undergrads at Stevens Institute of Technology lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 83% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Stevens Institute of Technology. There are 1,119 spots available in on-campus housing for all 3,791 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 633 students chose to live in campus housing. On the weekends, about 75% students stay on-campus. First year students are not allowed to park a car on campus.

At Stevens Institute of Technology there are a variety of athletic options for students interested in joining a sports program.

Intercollegiate sports are the highest tier of college sports and can be very competitive. Intercollegiate teams are regulated by the NCAA, funded by the university, and compete against teams from other universities. The division of a sports team depends on the size of the university, funding, and competition level. An intercollegiate school team will be Division I, II or III, with Division I being the highest level.

Club sports are not regulated by the NCAA and are a great option for students not interested in trying out for an intercollegiate team. Club sports are usually student run but can also be funded by the university.

Intramural sports are the most casual and informal. Intramural sports are often free and require very little time commitment.
