Siena College Student Life

Siena College is on a 175-acre campus in a suburban setting in Loudonville, New York, not far from Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metro Area. Siena College has many clubs, organizations, and activities for students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.

Siena College does not have fraternities or sororities.

Siena College has a thriving Habitat for Humanity. In fact, more students participate in Habitat for Humanity than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at Siena College include Outing Club, Her Campus, Gaming Club and Affinity Clubs.

Siena College students' favorite campus traditions are Club Fair, SienaFest Carnival and Welcome Back Bingo.

Does Siena College Offer Student Housing?

Siena College offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through senior year. First year students are given priority for on-campus housing.

The majority of Siena College students live on campus. In 2021, 69% of undergrads at Siena College lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 31% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Siena College. There are 2,455 spots available in on-campus housing for all 3,300 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 2,270 students chose to live in campus housing. On the weekends, about 75% students stay on-campus. First year students are not allowed to park a car on campus.

Siena College offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.

Siena College Athletics

At Siena College there are a variety of athletic options for students interested in joining a sports program.

Intercollegiate sports are the highest tier of college sports and can be very competitive. Intercollegiate teams are regulated by the NCAA, funded by the university, and compete against teams from other universities. The division of a sports team depends on the size of the unversity, funding, and compention level. An intercollegiate school team will be Division I, II or III, with Division I being the highest level.

Club sports are not regulated by the NCAA and are a great option for students not interested in trying out for an intercollegiate team. Club sports are usually student run but can also be funded by the university.

Intramural sports are the most casual and informal. Intramural sports are often free and require very little time commitment.

Siena College offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Campus housing is secure and dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards.

Additionally, Siena College has closed-circuit security cameras & emergency call boxes (both monitored 24/7); gates closed nightly with entrance through welcome booth.
