Saint Leo University Student Life

Saint Leo University is on a 280-acre campus in a rural setting in Saint Leo, Florida, not far from Tampa and Orlando. There are many activities and organizations for Saint Leo University students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.

Saint Leo University also has fraternities and sororities.

Saint Leo University has a thriving Caribbean Student Association. In fact, more students participate in Caribbean Student Association than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at Saint Leo University include Alpha Phi Omega, Intercultural Student Association, Leo for St. Jude and American Marketing Association.

Saint Leo University students' favorite campus traditions are Spring Fling, Family Fall Festival and Campus Activities Board Bingo Night.

Does Saint Leo University Offer Student Housing?

Saint Leo University offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through junior year. First year students are given priority for on-campus housing.

The majority of Saint Leo University students live on campus. In 2021, 54% of undergrads at Saint Leo University lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 46% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Saint Leo University. There are 1,607 spots available in on-campus housing for all 2,246 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 1,240 students chose to live on-campus. On the weekends, about 85% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.

Saint Leo University Athletics

At Saint Leo University there are a variety of athletic options for students interested in joining a sports program.

Intercollegiate sports are the highest tier of college sports and can be very competitive. Intercollegiate teams are regulated by the NCAA, funded by the university, and compete against teams from other universities. The division of a sports team depends on the size of the unversity, funding, and compention level. An intercollegiate school team will be Division I, II or III, with Division I being the highest level.

Club sports are not regulated by the NCAA and are a great option for students not interested in trying out for an intercollegiate team. Club sports are usually student run but can also be funded by the university.

Intramural sports are the most casual and informal. Intramural sports are often free and require very little time commitment.
