RCAD is on a 49-acre campus in an urban setting in Sarasota, Florida, not far from Tampa-St. Petersburg. There are many activities and organizations for RCAD students to participate in – chorus, theater groups, , and more.
RCAD does not have fraternities or sororities.
RCAD has a thriving Student Government Association. In fact, more students participate in Student Government Association than any other on-campus activity.
Other popular student organizations at RCAD include Digital Painting Sketch Club, Resident Student Association, MOSAIC and Quidditch Team.
RCAD students' favorite campus events are Illest of Illustrators, Best of Ringling Opening and International Harvest Fest.
RCAD offers housing. Students are not required to live on campus First year students are given priority for on-campus housing.
Most RCAD students live off campus. In 2021, 48.6% of undergrads at RCAD lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 51.4% of students lived off-campus or commuted to RCAD. There are 1,298 spots available in on-campus housing for all 1,624 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 789 students chose to live on-campus. On the weekends, about 48.6% students stay on-campus. First year students are not allowed to park a car on campus.
RCAD offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.
College is like a home away from home. Whether you're walking to class or coming back from late-night studying (or partying!), it's important to feel safe on campus.
Ringling College of Art and Design is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The RCAD campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night.
RCAD offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Campus housing is secure and dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards.
Additionally, RCAD has lighted campus.
