IPFW Academics

Purdue University Fort Wayne requires at least 120 semester hours to graduate with a bachelor's degree. Students can choose the accelarated degree program if they would like to finish all the credits for graduation in less time than normal. Around 38% of students who started college at IPFW finish the requirements for graduation within six years. IPFW offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

Which Courses Are Required at IPFW?

IPFW has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

Majors at IPFW

Double majoring may require more work but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when job searching or applying to grad school.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. IPFW does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does IPFW Have Services For Students With Disabilities?

IPFW offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does IPFW Offer Online Classes?

IPFW has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does IPFW Give AP Credit?

IPFW offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does IPFW Have An Honor's Program?

IPFW offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, but does not offer a Freshman Honors College.

Does IPFW Require Internships?
