OJC Academics

Otero Junior College requires at least to complete a bachelor's degree. There is no accelarated degree program, but students who wish to save money or graduate early can look into transferring in credits. Common takes AP. Additionally, OJC has a summer session, so students can earn credits during the summer. OJC offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at OJC?

OJC has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are not required to fulfill a lanuage requirement or a math or science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

When choosing a major, OJC students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at OJC below. OJC does not offer double majors, so students must choose on area of study to focus on. .

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. OJC does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does OJC Offer Online Classes?

OJC has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does OJC Give Credit for AP Classes?

OJC offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does OJC Have An Honor's Program?

OJC offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and does not offer a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does OJC Require Internships?

OJC does not require an internship for all students Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
