OCCC Academics

Oklahoma City Community College requires a minimum of N/A to graduate with a bachelor's degree. Students can choose the accelarated degree program if they would like to finish all the credits for graduation in less time than normal. OCCC offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at OCCC?

OCCC has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are not required to fulfill a lanuage requirement or a math or science requirement. Students are required to take a computer class to fufill the graduation requirements for OCCC.

Majors at OCCC

When choosing a major, OCCC students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at OCCC below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Double majoring may mean taking more courses, but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to a graduate program.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. OCCC does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does OCCC Have Services For Students With Disabilities?

OCCC offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does OCCC Offer Online Classes?

OCCC has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does OCCC Give AP Credit?

OCCC offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does OCCC Have An Honor's Program?

OCCC offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and does not offer a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does OCCC Require Internships?

OCCC does not require an internship for students in some majors only. Internships can help students gain hands on work experience for their resume, and explore career paths that interest them without committing to one path.
