MCC Academics

McHenry County College requires a minimum of to graduate with a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program. MCC offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Do I Have To Take at MCC?

MCC has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are not required to fulfill a lanuage requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students do not have to take a computer class.

Majors at MCC

When choosing a major, MCC students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at MCC below. MCC does not offer double majors, so students must choose on area of study to focus on. .

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. MCC does not require a senior project for all students.

Does MCC Have Services For Students With Disabilities?

MCC offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does MCC Offer Online Classes?

MCC has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does MCC Give Credit for AP Classes?

MCC offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does MCC Have An Honor's Program?

MCC does not offer an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, but does not offer a Freshman Honors College.

Does MCC Require Internships?

MCC requires an internship for students in some majors only. Students can look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
