IU East Academics

Indiana University East requires at least 120 credit hours to complete a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program. IU East offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at IU East?

IU East has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students do not need to fulfull a language requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students are required to take a computer class to fufill the graduation requirements for IU East.

Majors at IU East

When choosing a major, IU East students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at IU East below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Double majoring may require more work but it can provide a unique combination of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to grad school.

Students must choose one of the majors offered by the college. Self-designed majors are not allowed. IU East does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does IU East Offer Learning Disability Services?

IU East offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does IU East Offer Online Classes?

IU East has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does IU East Give AP Credit?

IU East offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does IU East Have An Honor's Program?

IU East offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, but does not offer a Freshman Honors College.

Does IU East Require Internships?

IU East requires an internship for students in some majors only. Students can look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
