Georgetown Academics

Georgetown University requires a minimum of 120 credit hours to complete a bachelor's degree. There is no accelarated degree program, . Georgetowndoes not offer classes during the summer. Around 94% of students who started college at Georgetown finish the requirements for graduation within six years. Georgetown offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Do I Have To Take at Georgetown?

Georgetown has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students need to fulfull a language requirement as well as a math and science requirement. Students do not have to take a computer class.

Majors at Georgetown

When choosing a major, Georgetown students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at Georgetown below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Declaring a double major may mean taking more courses, but it can provide an interesting mix of experience that helps students stand out when job searching or applying to grad school.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. Georgetown does not require a senior project for all students.

Does Georgetown Have Services For Students With Disabilities?

Georgetown offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Georgetown has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does Georgetown Offer AP Credit?

Georgetown offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does Georgetown Have An Honor's Program?

Georgetown offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, but does not offer a Freshman Honors College.

Does Georgetown Require Internships?
