FSU Student Life

FSU is on a 486-acre campus in a suburban setting in Tallahassee, Florida. There are many activities and organizations for FSU students to participate in – band, chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.

FSU also has fraternities and sororities.

FSU has a thriving Student Government. In fact, more students participate in Student Government than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at FSU include Honors Program, Golden Key Honor Society, Marching Chiefs and Intramural Sports.

FSU students' favorite campus traditions are Family Weekend, Homecoming and Dance Marathon.

FSU Housing

FSU offers housing. Students are not required to live on campus First year students are given priority for on-campus housing.

Most FSU students live off campus. In 2021, 13.9% of undergrads at FSU lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 86.1% of students lived off-campus or commuted to FSU. There are 6,712 spots available in on-campus housing for all 32,543 undergraduates. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.

FSU offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.

Safety at FSU

College is like a home away from home. Whether you're walking to class or coming back from late-night studying (or partying!), it's important to feel safe on campus.

Florida State University is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The FSU campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night.

FSU offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Campus housing is secure and dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards.

Visiting colleges is one of the best ways to get a sense of the campus and student body. If you'd like to visit to FSU, take U.S. Highway 90/Interstate 10 to Tallahassee, FL. If you need to fly, book your flight to Tallahassee Regional airport.
