CCNY Academics

City College of the City University of New York requires a minimum of 120 credits to graduate with a bachelor's degree. There is no accelarated degree program, . Additionally, CCNY has a summer session, so students can earn credits during the summer. Around 60% of students who started college at CCNY complete all the credits required within six years. CCNY offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

Which Courses Do I Have To Take at CCNY?

CCNY has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are not required to fulfill a lanuage requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students are not required to take a computer class to graduate.

Majors at CCNY

Declaring a double major may mean taking more courses, but it can provide a unique combination of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to grad school.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. CCNY does not require a senior project for all students.

CCNY has distance learning options for students who are interested in taking classes online.

Does CCNY Offer AP Credit?

CCNY offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does CCNY Have An Honor's Program?

CCNY offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, and offers a Freshman Honors College. The Freshman Honors college provides a rich curriculum for highly-motivated first-year students.

Does CCNY Require Internships?
