Brown is on a 154-acre campus in an urban setting in Providence, Rhode Island, not far from Boston. There are many activities and organizations for Brown students to participate in – band, chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.
Brown also has fraternities and sororities.
Brown students' favorite campus events are Spring Weekend Events, Campus Dance and Commencement Weekend and Ivy Film Festival.
Brown offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through junior year. First year students are guaranteed on-campus housing.
The majority of Brown students live on campus. In 2021, 72% of undergrads at Brown lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 28% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Brown. First year students are not allowed to park a car on campus.
Brown offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.
College is like a home away from home. Whether you're walking to class or coming back from late-night studying (or partying!), it's important to feel safe on campus.
Brown University is patroled 24 hours a day by trained security. The Brown campus has emergency telephones or alarms for students to use anytime of day or night. The school also has student security patrols.
Brown offers late-night transportation or safety escorts for students. Dorms can only be accessed with secure key cards so that students can feel confident that they are safe in on-campus housing.
