BC Academics

Boston College requires at least 38 courses to graduate with a bachelor's degree. If students would like to graduate in less time than normal, they can choose the accelerated degree program. Around 94% of students who started college at BC complete all the credits required within six years. BC offers an orientation program before the start of fall classes to prepare new students for college life.

What Classes Are Required at BC?

BC has a core curriculum, which means there are certain classes or types of classes all students must take to graduate. Students are not required to fulfill a lanuage requirement , but there is a math and science requirement. Students do not have to take a computer class.

Majors at BC

When choosing a major, BC students have several choices to make. Scroll down to see a full list of majors offered at BC below. Student struggling to choose just one area of study may consider a double major. Declaring a double major may require more work but it can provide a unique combination of experience that helps students stand out when looking for a job or applying to a graduate program.

If students would like to study something that is not offered as an official major, they can design their own major. BC does not require all students to complete a senior project.

Does BC Have Services For Students With Disabilities?

BC offers services for students with disabilities. Prospective students can contact the college's Office of Disability Services to learn more about any support and accomodations offered. These conversations are usually kept confidential and will not be shared with the admissions office if you do not wish to share.

Does BC Have An Online Program?

BC does not have distance learning options or fully-online programs, so students must be able to attend classes on-campus.

Does BC Offer Credit for AP Classes?

BC offers some credit for Advanced Placement (AP) classes taken in high school. Schools have different requirements for what AP scores they accept, so some students may not receive AP credit.

Does BC Have An Honor's Program?

BC offers an honors program for highly-qualified applicants, but does not offer a Freshman Honors College.

Does BC Require Internships?

BC does not require an internship for all students Students can still look for internships during the summer, or gain work experience with a part-time job.
