Auburn University Student Life

Auburn University is on a 1,875-acre campus in a small town setting in Auburn University, Alabama, not far from Atlanta and Birmingham. There are many activities and organizations for Auburn University students to participate in – band, chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, a radio station and more.

Auburn University also has fraternities and sororities.

Auburn University has a thriving Student Government Association. In fact, more students participate in Student Government Association than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at Auburn University include University Program Council, IMPACT (volunteer opportunities), International Student Organization and student media (AU Plainsman newspaper, WEGL radio, Glomerata yearbook, Eagle Eye television, AU Circle literary journal).

Auburn University students' favorite campus traditions are Hey Day, UPC Concert and BIG Event.

Auburn University Housing

Auburn University offers housing. Students are not required to live on campus First year students are given no special consideration for on-campus housing.

Most Auburn University students live off campus. In 2021, 19% of undergrads at Auburn University lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 81% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Auburn University. There are 4,823 spots available in on-campus housing for all 24,505 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 4,643 students chose to live on-campus. On the weekends, about 80% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.
