Alma College Student Life

Alma College is on a 128-acre campus in a small town setting in Alma, Michigan, not far from Lansing. There are many activities and organizations for Alma College students to participate in – band, chorus, theater groups, a campus newspaper, and more.

Alma College also has fraternities and sororities.

Alma College has a thriving Alma Ambassadors. In fact, more students participate in Alma Ambassadors than any other on-campus activity.

Other popular student organizations at Alma College include Alma College Union Board, Alma College Otaku Gamers (ACOG), Student Congress and Alpha Phi Omega.

Alma College students' favorite campus traditions are Homecoming, Throwdown in A Town and Orientation Hypnotist.

Does Alma College Offer Student Housing?

Alma College offers housing. Students are required to live on campus through senior year. First year students are guaranteed on-campus housing.

The majority of Alma College students live on campus. In 2021, 92% of undergrads at Alma College lived in some kind of on-campus housing and 8% of students lived off-campus or commuted to Alma College. There are 1,369 spots available in on-campus housing for all 1,435 undergraduates. In the 2020-21 school year, 1,298 students chose to live in campus housing. On the weekends, about 75% students stay on-campus. First year students are allowed to park a car on campus.

Alma College offers coed housing and housing for students with disabilities.

Alma College Athletics

At Alma College there are a variety of athletic options for students interested in joining a sports program.

Intercollegiate sports are the highest tier of college sports and can be very competitive. Intercollegiate teams are regulated by the NCAA, funded by the university, and compete against teams from other universities. The division of a sports team depends on the size of the unversity, funding, and compention level. An intercollegiate school team will be Division I, II or III, with Division I being the highest level.

Club sports are not regulated by the NCAA and are a great option for students not interested in trying out for an intercollegiate team. Club sports are usually student run but can also be funded by the university.

Intramural sports are the most casual and informal. Intramural sports are often free and require very little time commitment.

Is Alma College Safe?
