About Allegheny College

At Allegheny College, our students combine — and redefine — their interests. They expand their concentrations beyond one academic division, developing the big-picture, critical thinking that is in high demand in today’s global marketplace. Look around and you’ll see an aspiring diplomat singing in the choir and building a bike path, a future physician who edits the college newspaper and pole vaults internationally, a studio art major winning a business idea competition to fund her smartphone app. At Allegheny these are everyday examples of students exploring all of their talents, all of their passions. Allegheny College is a private, nonprofit school in a suburban setting in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Allegheny College was founded in 1815 and enrolls 1,667 undergrads and no graduate students. Allegheny College offers housing for up to 1,788 students. The majority of students live on campus, and first year-students are required to live in campus housing. On the weekends, about 80% of students stay on-campus and participate in campus events and social life.
