I'm considering attending to an all-girl prep school. There are lots of all-girl preps in US. and I, as a foreign students, don't know much about the reputation and quality of each school. Here are the list of school which I now consider.
Miss Hall's
Dana Hall
Madeira
Emma Willard
Ethel Walker
Westover
Foxcroft
please give me a comment...
Thank you in advance.

they all kinda suck...they've downgraded to like the 4th tier--all of them.

before schools like Deerfield were open to girls, those schools were more selective. but now that the top schools are co-ed and even the 2nd tier is co-ed, those schools just don't attract the same caliber of students.

if you MUST go to some of those schools (and I strongly suggest you apply to places like deerfield, andover, exeter, st.pauls, etc.), the ones that rank at the top of THAT list are as follows:

well actually the only ones i've even HEARD of are emma willard and ethel walker. good luck.

jesus...why is hockaday not on there???? it's the largest all-girl school in the U.S... last year's graduating class had six or so people go to Penn...every year at least one goes to HYP, usually more...Stanford usually about 5....please just because it's in Dallas shouldn't kill all hope...

Have you looked at KENT ?

Emma Willard is the best of the group . The BEST all girl schools are run by the Sacred Heard Order ( Madames of the Sacred Heart ).

Miss Porter's

Dana Hall and Ethel Walker are best schools among the schools you have listed. You should add Miss Porter's. All other schools are second-tiers and cannot be comopared. Emma Willard, Foxcroft and Westover even might be lower than that. I have no idea where Madeira is though.

The stupidest girl I have ever met went to Dana Hall, admittedly she was kicked out but I would still avoid that school like the plague.

Miss Porter's is supposed to be a great school... I know 3 people who go there, but they don't seem like that they're that much better off because of the experience. They're nice people, but they seem to think that they are "better" because they haven't had to dabble in the "public school system". WHich is crap. My public HS isn't the best in the nation, or even in the state, but I wouldn't trade what I've gotten out of my experiences there for any private education in the world.

Exeter is supposedly a feeder into Yale...

Ms. Porter's is known amongst my prep school friends as "lesbian boot camp"... some of my friends who go there call it that too... weird stuff going on there, but of course it's still a great school with a lot of tradition... it used to be really good but it's kind of dwindled in recent years... it's probably the best all girls boarding school... Dana Hall would probably be second. Oh yeah Emma willard has a frickin' gorgeous campus (the movie emperor's club was filmed there)but the people i know whop go there aren't too smart... miss hall's isn't very good these days

Ms. Porter's? One of my school teacher suggested that I should consider this school for the 2004-2005 academic year....it's a great school, quite competitive as well. The best thing I could infer out of it is that most girls there are strong leaders, more of a leadership type people. Particualarly they are strong writers too (I heard they won quite a lot of writing awards, according to my teacher).
I don't know about this "lesbian boot camp" title given by your prep friends, Pinkflamingo. But this name somehow sounds quite abominable to my ears. I find it shameful of your friends to nickname the school they are currently attending or say, had attended. This does not only disrespect the school, it also degrades themselves.
