Last Summer, I realized what my dream school was (Barnard.) However, when I looked at their application, I realized that I was really lacking
1)honors and awards (besides NHS and italian language honors society)
*What should I do about this?
2)a hook (I'm not even sure if I have one or not. I dont play any sports but I have my own amnesty international club and will be the editor in chief of my newspaper. I like all my subjects so I am doing well in all of them- I am shooting for all A's. After next summer, I will be able to speak 4 languages. I have other ec's, but is there anything here that can make a hook? What will be most attractive? I did all my extracurriculars because I wanted to, but now I also want to get into my college- Barnard. I know that it is extremely selective, but after reading into it, I know that I will be happiest there.)
I can post other info if you'd like... I'm feeling a lack of aim for these topics because I don't know where to go, and my guidance counselor probably won't be too helpful.
Thank you
p.s.- how much would I have to improve to make "improvement" a hook? Ever since 10th grade, (I'm in 11th grade now) my average has improved since the first quarter of every year, and I am determined to make that continue. But, I have a feeling that quarter-improvement doesnt matter; what matters is the improvement of the overall yearly average. By the way, I haven't taken my PSAT yet but on my first try of the practice SAT I received a 1360 - which I am positive can be improved much further.
So, my grades and SAT score will probably be average for barnard, but what sets barnard student apart is that they usually have something else up their sleeve- a xerox scholarship or something.
