College Discussion Forums: High School Life and Pre-college Issues: Advice for dealing with utter embarrassment

This post is a little off topic but something just happened to me at a pool party- tons of kids from my school, guys and girls, were all there and some of my "pals" decided it be funny to depants me, take off my shirt, and toss me in the pool. Not only was I in the middle of practically my whole school in nothing but my underwear, but it happened to be white boxer briefs and totally see-thru. To make a long story short- I was mortified!!! Anybody been through similar experiences- how do you go and face everyone back at school?? I don't know what to do!

From my understanding, laughing it off will usually work. If you make it embarrassing, it will be embarrassing.

laugh it off. When someone comments about it in school the next day, just laugh along with them and say something like "yeah, that was hilarious"

But, I mean- girls have seen me- you know- basically naked....it doesn't seem like just a normal funny prank. Does anyone have tips or experience dealing with this type of humiliation?

Shave your head. Go into recluse and become a monk for a voodist shrine. Cut out your tongue, and if that isn't painful enough, then castrate yourself.

Don't worry, just laugh along and go, "Heh, that was funky." Chances are, most people have forgotten or don't care by now.

Key word there is someone! This was like the entire school, and many people took pictures. I had to chase down my clothes and I think by the time I got them back on I had paraded myself around to everyone! Yikes!

Vollyball6, I am so sorry to hear of your misfortune. Unfortunately, I do not have any words of consolation to offer you, as I have thankfully never been in such a position. But hang in there. Just remember that everyday that passes, it's closer to it being old news.

Oh yes, and you may want to think about ditching your "pals" who did that to you. So not cool.

Best of luck with everything.

Vollyball6, REVENGE is the word you may want to look at. Seriously, if they got you this bad, you might as well utterly and shamelessly humiliate them in some way or another.

I can see why the dude is embarrassed. A man's best moment is NOT after he comes right out of a lukewarm swimming pool.

Volleyball6, it was a lousy prank, and you have every right to be furious at the kids who did that to you. But I agree with the advice that the very best way to handle it is to laugh it off. If you can somehow manage to pretend that it was all kind of stupid but no big deal, the embarrassment will pass very quickly and people will actually admire you (and probably nothing will ever be able to embarrass you again).

Good luck--I'll be thinking about you.

Work this your way! Girls have seen you naked, and it was totally out of your control. They'll think your sexy.

Don't worry about it. In the game of life, it doesn't matter, and it's a good conversation starter with any girl who was at the party and saw it happen to you. GREAT conversation starter if you keep it funny and light.

if anyone commented on it at school, I know I'd be like "oh yeah man, I felt so free. Thanks for the experience." and just laugh it off. Or you could ask ppl how they liked you're rock hard body
