does it matter whether or not your take Honors classes? what if your school doesn't have them?

colleges want to see if you challenged yourself in your high school career. if you are taking the highest classes offered, then you are going to be the one that they want. if your school doesn't have them, colleges should know that and won't hold it against you. but, look outside your school for academic challenges, like taking a class at your local community college.

It matters whether you take AB or IB classes, not honors. If your school doesn't have an honors program, then it probably doesn't have an AB or IB program, either. If this is the case, then you it's harder for you to get into an uber-elite school like Harvard, MIT, or Caltech.

well my school doesn't offer honors, but it does have AP, but you can't take it until 10th grade (only ap us), not until junior yr. can you take more than 1

Yes you can take as many as you want.

What matters is seeking out the best challenge you can find. What anyone can do, pretty much anywhere in the world, is to try taking a challenging class or two by distance learning. People with very low incomes may find that some of those programs have good financial aid, and sometimes a school will agree to help pay the bill for a course that it doesn't offer. Taking a distance learning course that gives you a grade in a challenging subject is better use of your parents' money than taking most SAT test-prep courses, if you can only afford one.

they matter the most if an ap course isnt given in that subject, so the best you could do was to take the honors version. whatever the case, taking honors over something less advanced is always good
