I am currently taking Latin Literature III, and this a regular class not the AP-- next year I will be taking AP Latin Poetry and I'd like to know how difficult this course is to have senior year. I've already taken 3 years of Latin and I happen to love it so if you ever took AP Latin Poetry I'd greatly appreciate anyone's input on the class! thankss

By AP Latin Poetry, I'm assuming you mean the Vergil test. Having taken both the AP Latin Lit and Vergil tests, I don't think one was harder than another. I loved reading Catullus for the Lit test, and the Aeneid is a lot of fun to read. It's quite a few lines (1700 I think), and then you need to know the read of the story via english translation. Its really not bad if you've been well prepared the past three years.
Mind if I ask which book you've been using? I used Wheelocks for the first two years, then my class went into AP Lit third year, and AP Vergil fourth year.

I'm taking AP Latin at the moment, and it's quite a difficult class. You could try searching for a Vergil thread, we had one going towards the beginning of the school year.

nooo this person is doing AP Latin Lit. I took Vergil junior year and it's harder than AP Lit and even Vergil wasn't that bad.
I'm taking Lit now, as a senior, and it's my easiest AP but then again, Latin's my favorite subject. take it, cause Latin's the best!

Yeah latin is an awesome language! Actually, I was asking what book you used before your AP class, but thats ok. Catullus and Horace eh? Well thats all right - I'm partial to the Ovid selection myself.
Jess, I'm suprised you took Vergil before the Lit test... interesting

ive taken latin for about 6 years now, i love it, we do a lot of the origins of the language rather than what the words mean. we did one year catullus, horace as a focus, plus tacitus, plautuss, levy*de rerum natura* and caeser and cicero, i personally loved catullus, my favorite latin poet. this year were doing the aeneid, and i really dont like it that much. the propoganda is starting to bother me, but its intresting figuring out the language. i cant imagine the ap being easy. personally i think the virgil would be easier because you can become aquanted with one authors style because catulus and horace from poem to poem did different meters and would mock different people in different ways.
